Thrive Aged Care Consultants was established in 2022 by Kathy Kirby and Kate Lamont, with a view to support organisations providing care and services for older people to create the right conditions so their teams (and clients) Thrive. Together Kathy and Kate have over 40 years of experience working across the health, aged care and government sector, in a variety of clinical and leadership roles.  As part of Thrive they work with care sector organisations to build team’s capabilities in a variety of areas such as from clinical skills, service and program development and practical leadership skills. Both Kate and Kathy, together with other members of their team are certified in training  Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Dementia Care and are excited to be sharing these evidenced based techniques with Australian Care organisations to change the way we support people living with dementia and the people providing care.

Cathy Balding

KATHY KIRBY

Director - Registered Nurse, Grad Cert Management and Healthcare Leadership

Kathy has worked in various roles senior management and project management roles  and has been involved in leading both small and large-scale change initiatives. With her  wealth of nursing expertise, project and people management skills she is committed to supporting organisations to be proactive in implementing best care – with a focus on exceed compliance requirements. 

Her key areas of expertise are in dementia, palliative care, nursing assessment skills and leadership and mentorship. Kathy works with a team approach and takes opportunities to share her knowledge and skills with those she is working with to build contemporary knowledge and capability within services. 
 

Kate Lamont

KATE LAMONT

Director - Bachelor Occupational Therapy, Master Health Services Management

Kate has worked in various clinical, project and program management roles across the public health care continuum. She has also held various positions within the Department of Health and Safer Care Victoria.  She has a passion for continuous improvement, with a focus on how we can improve services for older people and people living with dementia. Kate also has a passion for teaching and mentoring others to embrace continuous improvement and has worked extensively with Kathy to support clinicians to develop skills and confidence in leading continuous improvement initiatives.
