About the workshop
As a clinician and/or a middle manager who completes this workshop, you will build skills to:
- Develop plans to improve both intercultural practice and organisational culture, and
- Monitor and contribute to ongoing improvement of intercultural and collaborative practices
Workshop structure
The Building Culture and Collaboration workshop is an interactive one day (eight hour) workshop where you will identify your cultural blind spots, practice cultural competence and assess and develop strategies to improve collaborative team and patient care interactions.
As part of the workshop, you will also gain access to the Culture and Collaboration online course (which can be purchased as a stand-alone course), which serves as the pre-reading that informs the workshop content. You are required to complete the online course, which will be made available 4 weeks prior to the workshop and will close 6 months after your workshop is completed.
The online course consists of five modules, four of which are required to be completed:
- Module A: Who am I? (internal culture)
- Module B: Cultural competence
- Module C: Organisational and team culture
- Module D: Australia - a diverse nation
OR - Module E: New Zealand - Aotearoa - The land of the long white cloud
OR - Module F: Pacific Island Countries and Territories - Cultures, Traditions and Heritage
It is estimated that you will need to spend approximately one and a half hours per module (six hours in total) on this online component1, which can be completed over multiple days.
All AICG programs have been written by experts to reflect the elements of the AICG Clinical Governance Framework, reviewed by the Course Advisory Committee and approved for continuing professional development points/hours by the accrediting bodies; RACGP, ACRRM and ACN.
